THE SMALL PRINT

Small game, small data footprint.

Substacker uses first-party analytics to understand whether the game is fun, where careers stop, and which dilemmas deserve another edit.

What is collected

Substacker records anonymous landing and setup views. When a career begins, the author name or pen name, publication name, chosen category, a random run ID, and game progress are stored. During play, Substacker records decision IDs, completion, ending and score, share method, replay or abandon actions, and clicks to the creator’s publication.

What is not collected

There are no analytics cookies, advertising trackers, email addresses, account system, or long-lived visitor identifier. Substacker does not collect your browser history, the text of your posts, or activity outside this game.

Bug reports

A report is sent only when you press Send report. It includes the text you write, expected behavior if supplied, category, screen, decision number, game version, and run ID. Do not include private information. Reports and analytics are stored until they are deleted by the operator.

Your saved career

Game progress is stored on the game server. Your browser stores a random resume key so a refresh does not erase the run. Clearing this site’s browser data removes the key from that device, but the server record remains until it is deleted by the operator.

Substacker is an independent game by Shmulik Cohen and is not affiliated with Substack.
